Popularity of Aggressive Inline Skating
This adventure sport is hugely popular in the United States of America and one can find young people performing it on the streets or at the skate parks often, all across the USA. Street skating is vastly performed on the grinds which are there on the rails and ledges. Skaters also use the jumps from the tall heights which are also known as ‘gaps’. In the park skating variant the skater reconstructs the obstacles mentioned above, along with the bowls and rams on which he or she can perform the ‘vert’ skating.
Brief History about Aggressive inline Skating
It all started in the year 1980 when a group of ice hockey players from Minnesota were looking to do their practice differently and slowly this kind of practice became popular and then became an authentic sport in no time. Not only that the Scott and Brennan Olson company also formed a company called Rollerblade Inc. to promote the skates specially made for inline skating.
The sport kept on developing for the next few years and only in the early 1990s it came out as an organized sport. In 1994 the first-ever Inline Skating competition was held on the beaches of Southern California by Rick Stark and Mark Billik and the name of the competition was ‘The National Inline Skate Series’ or NISS. Later on, their company named Anywhere Sports Production was sold to Taco Bell and a six-stop series was born.
The next competitions were held in Los Angeles, New York, Rome and Brazil. The first-ever winners were Chris Edwards and Arlo Eisenberg. The competition became so popular that first ESPN and then FOX Sports telecasted it live. The aggressive inline skaters also found ‘The Aggressive Skaters Association’ or ASA in 1995 to develop the game with proper rules and also to govern the sport.
Aggressive skating in parks
Aggressive skating can also be practised in skate parks, combining different modalities of tricks applied to the different modules of a park, thanks to the variety of modules available in a skatepark you can make combos that we could not do in a half tube.
Tricks and trick formulation
All the tricks referring to the frontside variants (grinding with the skating rink) are derived from the royal, the driving pleasure, the unity, savannah and in turn, as the frontside exists (which indicates that we reread with the wall or railing in front of us) there is the counterpart that is the backside, which consists of grinding with the wall or railing behind us) therefore, every trick on frontside can be performed on the backside. It also depends on whether you use one or both feet.
Soul grind (grind with the sole of the skate) also have many derivations such as Mizzou, acid, pornstar, mistrial and make, these tricks also have their counterparts, which are called topsides, which indicates that it will be the same position but this time the soul plate will not rest but the rail on the curb or railing.
Styles and characters
It is important to emphasize in the world of skating styles have a leading role. Style is one of the things that is also taken into account when judging competitions by judges. Most of the great skaters have managed to create their own style, which usually includes the way they move when skating, the fluidity and the clothes they wear. Some of the best-known skaters for his style are Dustin Latimer, Franky Morales, Alex Broskow, Chris Farmer.
Types of Aggressive Inline Skating
know about different types of Aggressive Inline Skating and here they are
Street
The other name of street skating is freestyle skating. In this version, the skater performs his/her tricks by using the features that exist in a common or our routine environment. In this version, the skater involves himself or herself in grinding the handrails and the concrete ledges on the streets.
The skater also performs jumping on the stairs or ramping off the embankments. All in all the Skater uses all the obstacles available on the regular street. To gain more points creativity has given the utmost importance in this style of inline skating.
Standard or regular manoeuvres will have less appreciation than performers own creation of link tricks with uniqueness. All in all, it may be an adventure sport, but it also needs a huge application of mind as well.
Park
We have seen people performing various activities in a community skate park. This is where this style of inline skating differs from street skating. Over here there is a specification that is visible and was not available when you perform in the street. Here the skaters know how the skate park is designed and according to that they perform their skills.
Over here the technical side of the inline skating rules more than the normal creation of an inline skater. One more thing which differentiates the Park inline skating from the Street inline skating is that over here the skater enacts plenty of skating skills, but at the same time he/she also connects them smartly that it looks like one performance!
Quarter and half pipes are two popular versions of Park inline skating. Having properly marked lines on the Skate Parks make life easier for the skaters.
Halfpipe
If you have seen X Games on your TV then you probably will know how Halfpipe inline skating works. In this, the skater jumps high in the air, then rotates his or her body in different ways. Rotations and grinding tricks are some of the most popular types in Halfpipe inline skating. Halfpipe is getting popular now and it already has its own superstars as well.
