Early and Personal Life of Tomas Berdych

Born to Martin and Hana Berdych, Tomas Berdych started playing tennis at the age of five at his hometown Valasske Mezirici in former Czechoslovakia. His father, Martin was a train engineer and his mother Hana is still a doctor. At the age of 8 Tomas Berdych in the finals of the top young boys of the Czech Republic in Pardubice tournament and eventually won the tournament. Tomas Berdych was also part of the U–12 Junior titles of the Czech Republic.

A big fan of ice hockey Tomas Berdych supports the Detroit Red Wings in the NHL. Tomas Berdych was in a relationship with Czech tennis player Lucie Safarova for nine years, but then in 2011 they decided to break up and now he is dating a Czech Model Ester Satorova.

Professional Career of Tomas Berdych

The highlight of the professional career of Tomas Berdych came in 2010 when he reached the Wimbledon Championship finals after upsetting Roger Federer in the quarterfinals and Novak Djokovic in the semifinals. But in the finals, Tomas Berdych lost to Rafael Nadal in straight sets. Tomas Berdych has not won a single grand slam tournament, but he broke into top 10 ATP rankings and has reached in top 5 players in 2013. Tomas Berdych was part of the Czech Republic team who won the Davis Cup twice in two years and also part of the Hopman Cup-winning team in 2012.

Berdych is one of the players who have played the longest ATP doubles match ever. In This match he partnered with Lukas Rosol to defeat Marco Chiudinelli and Stan Wawrinka in the 2013 Davis Cup. To your surprise, this match lasted for a whopping 7 hours and 2 minutes.

Talking further, Berdych is the only player after David Nalbandian to defeat Roger Federer multiple times in grand slam tournaments before the semifinal stage. Back in 2019 at the finals of Nitto ATP, Berdych announced that he will be retiring from world tennis.

But one day randomly Berdych announced his comeback on Twitter. He intends to participate in the Tokyo Olympics 2021 and make his fans go gaga all over it.
